In my practice I have been trained in a form of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy called Attachment Based/Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (AB/IS-TDP). From all the recent outcome research, AB/IS-TDP is the only Psychotherapy that can show long lasting change to character as opposed to giving just SYMPTOM relief for a period of time. AB/IS-TDP has also been shown through outcome research, to be able to deal with difficult mental and somatic (Body Pain) more effectively and in a much shorter period of time. People with high anxiety and high resistance have been given relief from their suffering in a much shorter period of time compared to other Psychotherapies. Conditions that are often difficult to work with such as eating disorders, addictions, anxiety disorders, mood disorders have been shown to change/recover quicker and remain changed permanently.

One of the most important components of AB/IS-TDP is the psychodiagnostic evaluation of the person. This gives the therapist and the person the ability to set up a plan for recovery or permanent relief. This refers to assessing the formats of unconscious anxiety, the specific nature of major unconscious resistances and the degree of resistance. Thus, the person and the therapist have an accurate plan for accomplishing a positive permanent change.

All this is accomplished in the first session with the therapist. All information is kept confidential and no documentation is kept unless the person requires kept notes. Sessions will be videotaped at the request of the therapist, but, refusal by the person having therapy is always honoured. Video taping is very useful for the therapist to review and then be able to pick up on issues that may have been missed or can be improved upon.
