During this process you will be asked to give a detailed overview of your issue/problem and be asked inquiring questions. Confidentiality and anonymity are cornerstones of Terry’s practice, and any information is kept completely confidential.

Many executive/business coaching approaches focus on open ended questions about goals and objectives. These are often easy for the client to discuss because they are looking at the ideal or are vicariously desiring to live above their present capabilities. My approach can include goal setting, however, looking at the base psychological health of the individual in my opinion is a logical starting point. Without exploring precisely the basic foundation of the individual, many strategies purported by present day coaching methods are not effective, especially in the long term.

To be more precise, my approach is to assess the individual’s capacity to tolerate their most basic instinctual emotions. This will give us a more precise plan and platform from which to proceed.

Executives and Managers are often unconscious of their impact. For example if they are “rigid”, have poor interpersonal skills/relationships, or are unable to work in a team they will often defer to the easiest method of managing, which is to manage from a “position of power”. This may be the only way they can see the problem(s).

Consequently, they lack the precision to deal with core psychological issues that are the driving force(s) in people’s lives.

Their unhealthy psychological processes, that may be completely unconscious to them, are the driving force to mediocrity or unhealthy outcomes.

My approach to coaching is based on well researched evidence based psychological processes that have been shown to have high levels of reliability and sustainability and come from a body of Evidence Based OUTCOME RESEARCH as opposed to a theoretical probability.

Your work with me will be held in the highest confidentiality and your anonymity will always be well preserved.

The client would be scheduled for two (2) hour sessions every day (this can be flexible) for 10 days (which could include weekends as an option). This process gives much quicker results and accelerates the character change and/or relief from emotional distress that sets the stage for the client to go on to making more informed decisions. The client must be motivated and dedicated to this process. Most coaching has a very cognitive “do as I say” approach. This may work with a percentage of the population but for the most part is a feel good, no end in sight process. These approaches are very expensive in the long run and often require a dependency on the coach like a child to parent.

My approach is to create an understanding of the person’s defensive structures by being more direct and at the same time caring. This approach can rapidly bring about character change and/or relief from crippling anxiety and emotional distress, which rapidly changes the person’s confidence in themselves and gives insight for more informed decision making for the present and future.

Other benefits of working with Terry during Block Coaching are to have his expertise on addiction issues, marital/relationship issues and the expertise of a seasoned mental health professional available should he be needed. Terry is a trained marital/relationship therapist and also a certified substance misuse/addiction specialist and a trained interventionist. He is also very capable of working with clientèle that have anger regulation issues or spousal assault/abuse issues or have had feedback in their business or workplace that she/he impacts the workplace or business in a threatening way.

Terry’s coaching technique is applicable for women and men. He is available to travel to the client’s place of business anywhere.

This guarantee will hopefully give the comfort of knowing that you can communicate with me any time of the day or night, weekends, holidays. Since we have access from anywhere in the world in a second it is my intention to give that security to the client as they build their own character strength.

When we collaboratively develop a coaching plan, goal setting will be explored and I will vigilantly follow through to check on your progress or needs.

The development of this material was in conjunction with a female partner who was able to give a more thorough perspective from a female reality.

My approach to this topic of Anger/Rage Regulation is to have the candidate in the workshop get to know and understand this core emotion. But further than just understanding, the material will take the candidate to a place of not just having interpersonal dynamic awareness, but more importantly to a place of experiencing dynamic intra-personal understanding. This workshop gives the candidate the opportunity to participate anonymously in the workshop setting and look at the parts of their core emotions which they may be completely unconscious about.

This workshop has been proven effective with men and women for many years and has been continuously improved upon. Some comments from participants are:

“Terry uses real life experience. No B.S. I felt like I was not the only one with anger issues.”

“Terry was very supportive, understanding and willing to help day or night. Very thankful.”

“Receptive and made me feel at ease with difficult situation.”

“This course was in layman’s terms which I could understand and then apply.”

“I’m becoming part of the solution and less of the problem.”

There is a lot of work being done to explain the Bullying phenomena which may be useful to give understanding. Once again we will see a cottage industry appear with consultants explaining this cognitively. What we need is not only interpersonal understanding but also intra-personal understanding of the self.

My approach is not only to give meaning cognitively to Bullying, but to be able to have candidates in my Bullying Workshop have a look at themselves from parts of their personality and character that may be quite unconscious to them. This work can be done in a group setting with each individual doing their own work without having to share or disclose in front of peers, managers or subordinates. The safety of this workshop is paramount and will be highly regulated to ensure the candidates’ anonymity and emotional safety.

My success in this work is to give the individual a close look and to experience parts of themselves that they may have denied or have lost through the trauma of life.

Another one of my passions is to have studied and looked at the social/psychological factors and variables to do with gender difference. In my practice and development of any workshop I have always looked at the gender component as a strong variable in the dynamics I am presenting. For example: to be able to explain and then have individuals experience what it may be like to be in the other gender’s skin is a strong suit in my workshops.

On an individual basis, the foundation for any consultation or coaching contract is to ensure that there is a strong understanding about what gender you are, the implications of socialization, early attachment issues and character development. It is from this basis that a more secure personality can be developed to handle the Serengeti of the business world. A director of Business Research in a large Fortune 500 company said:

“Half the skills you need are technical. But the other half are in the emotional domain. And it’s amazing how it’s the latter that distinguishes the top performers.”

My understanding of both genders has given me much success in assisting individuals to a higher level of understanding and also the opportunity to look more precisely at their own psyche.
